5301 Week 2 Reflection

Conducting an action research study on discipline would be valuable to our administration to understand multiple thought processes about discipline. There are countless methods and thoughts around the country for how to best handle discipline issues. If we can identify problem areas in our discipline plan and strengthen them, then our school discipline will improve. Schools will benefit from the research because culture and climate will improve with better a discipline program.

  1. I am always interested in finding out new methods for the discipline program set in place. It may differ from campus to different demographic areas, but its importance still remains the same. Discipline affects the morale of the school, being safe, and student performance. Go to a school who doesn't have a consistent system of discipline and you will see exactly how important it is. Remember while doing your research to be consistent and follow through. It may take a while but hopefully you will begin to see improvements. I like how your plan is arranged with various steps in the process.

  2. You are starting with the students that you have the most influence on and that is the student athletes. Also, in the same token the athletes are usually your leaders of the school because they are out front and noticable. I like your plan it seems that you have everything planned in a good logical sequence for gathering data. Your plan has give me some things to think about implementing in my plan. I am curious to see the before and after results.
